Responsible Disposal

A small remainder of garments contaminated or ineligible for reuse or recycling are disposed of in established waste facilities, prioritizing energy recovery through incineration whenever possible.

Incineration is the least valuable option. It carries a cost—whether for us or our sorting partners. Sending textiles to incineration when they could be reused or recycled makes little sense—both environmentally and economically.

At our owned-facilities, we are legally required to register all incineration-bound waste in our Waste Management Register.

In Polch, DE, our 10% disposal stream is transported to a local incineration plant – in Mainz, and occasionally Cologne, depending on plant capacity.

In regions where we operate through partners, our partners engaged in the responsible disposal of garments, utilizing certified infrastructure compliant within their local setting.
